St. Petri
Lutheran Church is a member of Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ.
(LCMC)The Scandinavians who left the shores of Norway did not forget their
spiritual needs. They gathered in homes to share God's word and to support each
other in this new land. On December 17, 1887,at the home of Endre Engebretson,
St. Petri Lutheran Church was founded. Three years later the decision was made
to build a church building on the present site, south of Brandon.
In these
130 years of mission and outreach, the members of St. Petri have given of
themselves and their means so that the work of the church might continue.
Despite hardships, these faithful few have brought forth fruits worthy of their
labor out of love for the Lord Jesus Christ. Mission and outreach have always
been a driving force for the congregation, giving it meaning and purpose. Social
events like the Women's Salad Luncheon, Hot Dish Supper, and the Advent Hanging
of the Greens provide for camaraderie and fellowship.
There is a
special bond among the members of St. Petri who break bread together. Only nine
pastors have served St. Petri in its entire history. St. Petri is a warm, loving
congregation; a place to laugh together, cry together, and mature in Christian
faith. Currently, we have Sunday morning worship at 9:00 A.M. with Holy
Communion the second and fourth Sundays of the month.
Upholding
God's divinely inspired Word, St. Petri invites you to come, experience the joy
of our Lord as we gather in Christ's name. Those in search of the grace and
promise of Christ - unite to worship in a welcoming, friendly environment,
proclaiming Christ's love for all!
